Driver CPC Training

Driver CPC is a qualification for Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) and Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) Drivers who drive professionally in the UK and Europe. The qualification was developed as part of EU Directive 2003/59 which is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of professional LGV and PCV drivers throughout their working life.

Whilst it is the Driver’s responsibility to ensure they have all the necessary qualifications and training to meet their Driver CPC requirements, employers should also keep a record of their Driver’s training and further training requirements to ensure compliance within their fleet.

No one does Driver CPC training quite like us and we're sure you won't find another provider who combines such enthusiasm for Driver training with such experience, skill and integrity. We offer a thorough approach to developing professional Drivers in an interesting and engaging way.

Our current suite on JAUPT approved courses:

A Driver's Day

A Driver’s Day focuses on the day-to-day processes that a Driver comes across while working. Drivers’ hours are one of the points focused on – so the maximum period you should be on the road, as well as going through important rules such as Working Time Regulations, Analogue and Digital tachographs, vehicle safety checks, graduated fixed penalties, visual perception and collision and defect reporting.

Be Green - Be Safe

With so many vehicles on the road, it is becoming increasingly important to be aware of the impact this is having on the environment. This part of the training is designed to illustrate the benefits of an Eco driving style. It encourages a more pro-active approach to driving economically and develops techniques aimed at reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions. This part of the training also covers Driver fatigue, speed awareness and a refresher on Drivers’ hours, all aimed at keeping the Driver safe at work.

Stay Safe - Stay Legal

This course deals with minimising risks and how to access them. It’s important that Drivers, particularly when working alone, are aware of the potential dangers they may face, such as what to do in case of an injury and safe loading. Our trainers will go through general rules and regulations to ensure you know how to manage any risks that could occur when working. The training is aimed to provoke discussion, reflection and ultimately to give the Driver a learning experience they will remember.

On The Road (Theory)

Wondering how to deal with stressful situations on the road? Need to brush up on your knowledge of the Highway Code? This course deals with this and more, including brand image and how to ensure it is maintained, as well as dealing with issues such as driving while under the influence and penalty points.

Health and Safety (what you need to know)

This training covers everything from Health and Safety legislation to fire safety. Drivers need to be aware of all aspects of health and safety before driving. Other areas this training covers include RIDDOR, PPE, loading bay safety, falls from vehicles, legal responsibilities and site safety.

The Meaning of Life (First Aid)

This training takes the Driver through the procedures that should be applied when at the scene of an accident. Basic First Aid and adult CPR are skills that a Driver needs to have as, unfortunately, accidents on the road do happen. If a Driver found themselves in this situation, it is highly useful to know what to do. Our qualified trainers will inform you of what to do in an emergency and how to handle the situation.

7.5T Vehicle Familiarisation (One or two day options available)

Choosing from one or two-day training, the Driver will be guided through different vehicle familiarisation exercises from practising slow manoeuvres to going through relevant safety checks. Day two builds and reinforces the skills gained on day one as well as further developing the approach to urban and rural driving situations. The course also covers eco-driving techniques.

Safe Driving Essentials

It’s vital to know the basic factors that contribute toward being a safe Driver. In this course, our expert trainers highlight important areas a Driver should be aware of before getting behind the wheel. From covering road collision statistics to speed awareness, this training covers all relevant areas necessary for safe driving. Other parts to the course include defensive driving, good reversing guide, vulnerable road users, night driving, medical standards and more.
